Technical Education MSME departments join hands to hold statelevel job fair
Kolkata: The state Technical Education, Training & Skill Development department has joined hands with the state Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) department, to conduct a state-level job fair, the date and venue of which is yet to be finalised. Job offer letters will be handed over to as many as 6,000 people, who have successfully completed skill development.”The aim of the fair is to arrange jobs for skilled people and at the same time, imbibe the spirit of entrepreneurship in them. There have been job fairs by private companies and at the government level, but it is for the first time that such a fair is being organised by the state in such a large scale,” said Purnendu Basu, minister for Technical Education, Training and Skill Development department. Also Read – Rain batters Kolkata, cripples normal lifeThe department will also highlight the work done by the state government in skill development and at the same time, in ensuring employability among the skilled persons under the leadership of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. People from the chambers of commerce, training providers, the trainees as well as senior government officials will assemble under a single roof. Paschim Banga Society for Skill Development (PBSSD), under the aegis of TET&SD department and chaired by the Chief Secretary, the implementing arm for a majority of non-institutional trainings, is the main organiser of the job fair. Banks have given loan to the tune of Rs 44,000 crore in MSME, which is a clear indication of the state’s rapid strides in the field,” Basu said. He added that the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and polytechnic colleges in the state have been revamped to provide quality training, as per requirement of the industry. There will be as many as 60 stalls in the job fair. Leading IT companies will also be participating in the fair and they will be picking up skilled people right from the spot. Various industry representatives will interact with aspiring students of Utkarsh Bangla in these stalls, by giving them a rich experience of the respective sectors and conducting some mock job interviews as well.
