Redmi Note 7 leaks after just 2 months of Redmi Note 6 Pro with unexpected features and specifications

first_imgEarly last year, Xiaomi unveiled its Redmi Note 5 Pro – a midrange phone under Rs 15,000 offering a brand new Qualcomm chipset and a pair of new cameras. After just 9 months, they followed it up with the Redmi Note 6 Pro. The Redmi Note 6 Pro carried over the strong foundations of the Note 5 Pro such as the Snapdragon 636 SoC, a large 4000mAh battery and a pair of improved cameras. The only new feature was the notched display and dual front cameras. However, fans expected more out of the Redmi Note device and Xiaomi may have heard them, acting faster than anyone ever imagined. The Redmi Note 7 is under development.According to leaked information obtained from GeekBench, Xiaomi is already working on the Redmi Note 7 and has put the new device through its paces on the benchmarking platform. The listing suggests that the Redmi Note 7 will utilise the slightly older Snapdragon 660 chipset. The Snapdragon 660 chipset is presently used in Xiaomi’s own Mi A2. The chipset is essentially a watered-down version of the Snapdragon 835 chipset. However, the Snapdragon 660 is way better than the Snapdragon 625 used in the previous Redmi Note 5 and a tad better in gaming performance when compared to the Snapdragon 636 chipset. Therefore, a boost in performance is expected compared to the older model. Additionally, the listing suggests that the Redmi Note 7 will feature 6GB of RAM. This could either be the top-end variant or a standard one. The alleged Redmi Note 7 will also run on Android 9 Pie out of the box. With 1,462 points in the single-core and 4,556 points in the multi-core test, the handset scores lower than other phones that sport the Snapdragon 660 chipset. This could be due to the phone running a pre-production software. However, Xiaomi could also underclock the CPU to keep the Redmi Note 6 Pro and the Mi A2 relevant. Additionally, MIUI is a heavy skin and could affect performance drastically.advertisementWhile the authenticity of the listing is not trustworthy, there could be a high chance that the Redmi Note 7 could become a reality very soon. Xiaomi never launched a Redmi Note 6 and straightaway introduced the Redmi Note 6 Pro variant with more cameras. In fact, Xiaomi still sells the Redmi Note 5, which in comparison to its predecessors runs on archaic specifications. Since the Note 6 Pro is already on sale and launching a Note 6 with lower chip won’t make for a better deal, Xiaomi could introduce the Note 7 with the more powerful chipset. We speculate that the Redmi Note 7 will borrow the cameras from the Redmi Note 6 Pro but could retain only a single selfie camera. Chances are that Xiaomi could also go ahead to offer a bigger 5000mAh battery, which could make it go against the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M2. Xiaomi could also adopt a glossy plastic or glass rear panel for keeping up with the demands of the market.ALSO READ | Apple explains why some 2018 iPad Pro models appear bent in new support pageALSO READ | Xiaomi Mi A2 India price permanently reduced by upto Rs 3,000, new price effective from todayALSO READ | Xiaomi in 2019: Redmi 7, Mi A3, Redmi Pro 2, Poco F2, Mi 9 and everything that is coming this yearlast_img read more
