Angels fans vent frustrations after pitchers get hammered by Twins

first_img#Yikes!Angels fans were understandably riled up by Thursday’s 16-7 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Angel Stadium, a defeat in which the home team’s pitchers equaled a franchise record by giving up eight home runs. The tale of the tape was frightening. Starter Matt Harvey (4 home runs allowed) and relievers Noe Ramirez (2) and Cody Allen (2) were severely bitten by the Twins’ long-ball binge. Of the eight homers, seven were reported to have traveled more than 400 feet. The average distance of the blasts: 418.4 feet. The longest: Jonathan Schoop’s three-run blast off Harvey in the second inning, measuring 467 feet. After the last home-run ball rattled around in the fairly empty seats in Anaheim, some fans took to Twitter to vent their frustrations. A sampling of some of the social media commentary: I hate being this guy. I love the angels. Year after year we make no increase to the bullpen. 7 runs should beat any team if you have competent pitching. Plz at least give us one we can call an Ace— Scott Wellard (@88macdew) May 23, 2019 What GM would have gone after those 3 guys? They were horrible pitchers to begin with. Eppler is a total joke of a GM. Whatever this guy is being paid is way too much.— Robert Davis (@bdavis621) May 23, 2019center_img Newsroom GuidelinesNews TipsContact UsReport an Errorlast_img read more
