Michael Murphy returns for Donegal this weekend after missing the Mayo game through suspension.Donegal captain Michael Murphy and All-Star midfielder Neil Gallagher are expected to come into Rory Gallagher’s starting team for Sunday’s National League semi-final with Cork.Murphy missed Donegal’s draw with Mayo due to suspension, the Glenswilly clubman was given his third black card of the campaign against Tyrone and that ensured he missed the clash in Castlebar.Neil Gallagher sustained a hamstring problem during the Tyrone match and wasn’t deemed fit enough to feature against Mayo. It’s believed the towering midfielder has been progressing well with his rehab programme from the injury and should play against Cork.Donegal will form part of a Division One National League semi-final double header.Dublin will play Monaghan in the other semi-final at HQ.Ryan McHugh and Hugh McFadden have been regular starters for Rory Gallagher’s side all season but have also been influential figures for the U21 side that reached the Ulster Final. They narrowly lost out to Tyrone last night and both players have amassed a lot of matches already this season and last night’s final was a physical encounter with McHugh and McFadden were both the subject of cynical fouling. It’ll be interesting to see if both players will start on Sunday in Croke Park.Gallagher otherwise has a full squad to choose from for the clash with the Rebel County as all the players who featured for their clubs on Easter Monday came through unscathed.Donegal already defeated Cork earlier in the league campaign in Ballyshannon and will be confident of sealing a place in a Division One league decider for the first since 2007. Just days before a long-awaited dive into the plume of Enceladus (see PhysOrg and JPL press release, flyby stats and news release), Cassini found another surprise in the Saturn system: a moon with rings. A Jet Propulsion Lab press release on March 6 reported that the large moon Rhea may have rings – the first ring system detected around a satellite of a planet. The rings, composed of particles up to a meter in size, were not detected visually, but are inferred from electromagnetic effects detected by Cassini’s instruments. Dips in electron density were seen on both sides of the moon, suggesting the presence of rings. They apparently extend out eight moon diameters from Rhea. See also the National Geographic story. More detail is available at the Planetary Society blog, where Emily said the discovery was unexpected. The debris orbiting Rhea could have resulted from a comet impact in the moon’s past. It appears to be organized into three ringlets and is composed of pebble to boulder-sized particles, based on inference of what material could cause the dips in electron density. No small dust has yet been detected. What is most mysterious is how the debris could remain there for millions or billions of years. The original paper in Science1 said that boulders could remain in orbit for 70 million years, but that would only amount to 1/64 the assumed age of the solar system. Richard Kerr commented on the discovery in the same issue of Science.2 He brought up some reasons why the rings shouldn’t exist:But ring specialists still have their reservations. Such rings, they say, are possible but improbable. First, just the right sort of impact would probably have been required to blast material off the icy moon and into orbit. Then the ring particles would have had to survive millions if not billions of years being torn apart by the tidal pull of Saturn and worn down to dust by eroding small impacts. Most constraining, perhaps, is the “incredibly low” limit on dust around Rhea set by Cassini’s camera, says Joseph Burns of Cornell University, who is on the imaging team. Ring boulders must shed some dust, and even tiny amounts of dust show up when backlit by the sun.If the rings survive further observational scrutiny, Cassini scientists will have another age problem on their hands. In addition to the geysers on Enceladus, the Rhea rings look like young phenomena that are supposed to be billions of years old, according to the scientific consensus. To prepare for the historic close encounter with Enceladus, watch the Enceladus Virtual Tour. A map of the encounter is available, and a graph of the plume trajectory. For more about the moon Enceladus, see the Enceladus main page and our reports from 02/17/2007, 07/11/2006 and 11/28/2005. Geeks will drool over the Mission Description (PDF). You Rhealize what’s going on, don’t you? All observations must be forced into the old-age assumption, whether they fit or not. This is known as science. Enceladus is the moon to watch for a reality check. Come back Wednesday and Thursday this week for late breaking news about the dramatic flyby as soon as it is made public. If you downloaded CASSIE 3D tour imager, you can zoom in on the encounter to visualize the history about to be made. RELATED ARTICLES How to Heat a GarageShould I Insulate My Garage Door?Energy-Efficient Garage DoorsAir Conditioner BasicsGBA Encyclopedia: Air ConditioningThe Magic of ColdCalculating Cooling LoadsWindow-Mounted Air Conditioners Save Energy Mistake #2: Air conditioning the garage the wrong wayOK, so let’s say you’ve got a good reason to air condition the garage. That’s fine, but you should absolutely never, ever do it the way they did here. Matt Risinger is an Austin home builder who owns Risinger Homes and does things the right way. The photo above is from a video he made to explain the problems with air conditioning a garage the way this builder did.The big potential problem here is bad indoor air quality. Let me show you why. An air conditioner is supposed to be balanced in its air flow. A 3 ton AC pulls 1200 cubic feet per minute (cfm) of air (nominal) from the conditioned space and then puts 1200 cfm of air back into the conditioned space. What Matt showed above is a system that puts maybe 400 cfm of air into the garage. It’s still pulling 1200 cfm from the house (assuming a 3 ton system) but only has 800 cfm left to put into the house.Hmmmm. 1200 out, 800 in. That’s like having a 400 cfm range hood running whenever the AC kicks on. That’s gonna depressurize the house. One of the basic rules of air flow is that for every cfm in, you’ve got to have another cfm out, and vice versa. So if the AC is pulling 1200 cfm from the house and putting 800 back in, it’s got to find another 400 cfm somewhere. It does that, as Matt said in the video, by pulling from the garage, under the walls, through the can lights, and also down a gas water heater flue if the house has one. That last one is potentially deadly. If the air conditioner pulls air down the flue while the water heater is firing, that means the exhaust gases aren’t going up the flue. That’s called backdrafting. It can put carbon monoxide into the house and into your lungs while you’re sleeping. Not such a good idea, eh?Even if you don’t backdraft a gas water heater, you’re pressurizing the garage and depressurizing the house. That means all the bad stuff in that garage air wants to find a way into the house. If that’s not enough for you, how about the fact that the building code doesn’t allow it? Just because it’s not allowed, though, doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen, as the video shows. Building inspectors don’t catch everything. Why is it a waste of energy? Because cars, lawn mowers, and junk don’t need to be air conditioned. Also, standard roll-up garage doors aren’t insulated or air-sealed, so you’re paying to condition space that’s constantly reheated by Mother Nature, especially if those doors get direct sun during the day.Are there good reasons to air condition a garage? Sure. If I’m a woodworker and don’t care if my cars sleep in the driveway, I’d air condition my garage in Austin. Or if I want to turn it into a mancave, momcave, or teen hangout, it’s definitely gonna chill. Or maybe you can’t build a house in a certain price range or Austin neighborhood without air conditioning the garage and have any hope of selling it. Sometimes people do the craziest things. Take that photo at right, for example. That’s a new home being built in Austin, Texas. The arrows point to three air conditioning ducts. In the garage. Yes, they’re air conditioning the garage. Allison Bailes of Decatur, Georgia, is a speaker, writer, energy consultant, RESNET-certified trainer, and the author of the Energy Vanguard Blog. You can follow him on Twitter at @EnergyVanguard. The right way to air condition a garageIf you really must air condition a garage, you need to install a separate system for the garage only. The best way to do this is with a minisplit heat pump or air conditioner. It’s perfect for this application because it’s small, doesn’t require ducts, is very energy efficient, and can be turned off when you don’t need to cool that space.Of course, another, less expensive, option would be to use window units. They’ll do the same thing for less cost. You’ll get more noise and lower efficiency, but if it’s not used much, that’s probably acceptable. There you have it. As with most things, there’s a right way and a wrong to air condition a garage. Then there’s the question of whether you should be air conditioning it at all. Mistake #1: Air conditioning the garageNow, the first mistake here was probably adding air conditioning to the garage in the first place. Most of the time, a garage is used simply as a garage. That is, the homeowners store cars, lawn mowers, high school yearbooks, a Smoking Donkey cigarette dispenser, a ‘time capsule’ in a shrimp factory box that you’ve had since your first job in high school, and that old Mr. Microphone. (Hey, Good Lookin’, we’ll be back to pick ya up later!)If it’s just going to be used as a garage, there’s no need to air condition it all. It’s a waste of energy that will provide the owners little if any benefit. If they’ve got some really valuable stuff that can’t take the heat or humidity out there (like that Mr. Microphone), then bring it into the house.
With Ohio State’s basketball season coming to an unexpected end Saturday night in the Elite Eight matchup against Wichita State at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, many Buckeyes are still trying to get over it. Junior guard Aaron Craft said he’s going into the offseason with big expectations for next year. “It’s tough right now. It’s crazy to think I’m down to one year left,” Craft said after the game. “We have to understand there’s a sense of urgency now. Ohio State is one of the best places in the country to be and we need to make the most of it.” Just a year ago, OSU students and fans from all over the country were preparing their trips to New Orleans for the Final Four. Unfortunately this year’s team couldn’t make it back. The Buckeyes haven’t made consecutive Final Four appearances since the 1960s, when they went to the Final Four three straight years (1960-1962). The four teams that will be playing in the Final Four are No. 1-seed Louisville, No. 9-seed Wichita State, No. 4-seed Syracuse and No. 4-seed Michigan. Heading into the NCAA Tournament, some analysts, like former NBA superstar Charles Barkley, felt the Big Ten conference was overrated despite having seven teams in the tournament. Now, Michigan is the only remaining Big Ten team, putting many OSU fans in an awkward position. Allison Roda, a fourth-year in marketing and strategic communication, said she isn’t happy that Michigan is in the Final Four and OSU is not. “I’m definitely upset about it,” Roda said. “It just sucks and I don’t really care that there’s a Big Ten representative, I’d just rather it had been us.” Although there are quite a few Buckeye fans that feel the same way as Roda, there are also some fans that think Michigan making it to Atlanta for the Final Four reflects well on OSU. Tyler Shebeck, a first-year in business, is one of those fans with a positive attitude. “I’m happy Michigan is in the Final Four,” he said. “It’s a bummer we’re not, but at the same time, you have to look at it as a team representing the Big Ten, not as a rival. Plus it helps my bracket.” Whether you like it or not, Michigan will be playing in the Final Four and has a legitimate shot at a national championship. If you want to root against them, be my guest, but I can tell you right now whenever there is a chance to make the Big Ten look good and not appear to be a purely football conference, I will jump on that bandwagon. Michigan is set to face Syracuse Saturday at 8:49 p.m. at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Coverage will be on CBS.
The former UEFA president has opposed to Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology from a long time; he also has doubts about Ronald in JuventusFormer UEFA president Michel Platini believes the use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) is not just in football. The ex-French footballer believes that VAR is only an interpretation and now a good way to decide for referees.“It’s a video that’s impossible to conclude on. You take a moment that lasts a millisecond and stretch it out to 15 seconds,” he told L’Equipe as quoted by Gianluca Di Marzio.England and Bulgaria on a collision course over racism George Patchias – September 13, 2019 England’s concerns over racism in Bulgaria has sparked a furious row.Recently England manager Gareth Southgate expressed his concern over racist abuse being aimed at…“Take the World Cup final, was there a handball on Croatia? At normal speed, and with even a normal replay, definitely no.”“But with the super slow motion, the referee sees something and awards the penalty. Where is the justice? It is simply an interpretation.”He also took a time to talk about Cristiano Ronaldo going to Juventus, saying he “found it odd that at 33 years old he would leave ‘his’ Real Madrid, which has won three Champions League, to start a new challenge.”“But was it Juventus who went after him, or his agent Mendes who pursued Juventus? I am not able to fully understand this deal,” he concluded.
Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has seen enough quality in his team to believe they can achieve a lot under Maurizio Sarri’ and claimed it is ‘impossible not to love’ playing for the club.Jorginho has played a key role in helping Chelsea maintain an unbeaten run in the League since his move from Napoli. And he recently opened up on what it feels like playing for Sarri.“Maurizio Sarri is great. It’s great playing with him,” the Italy midfielder told Football Italia via Metro.“He is someone who gives you the opportunity to play with the ball and do what all footballers love to do. We have fun with the coach and that means we can play to a much higher level.“Obviously, you can always improve and you have to want to improve, which is something we are all striving towards here.“It is a privilege to come here and to play alongside them. I think anyone who plays at Chelsea is a big name player.Sacchi explains Sarri, Conte, and Ancelotti Manuel R. Medina – September 14, 2019 Arrigo Sacchi talked about how Sarri has a tougher time at Juventus than Conte at Inter; while Ancelotti’s “blood is boiling” at Napoli.Arrigo Sacchi…“They are also great people. I am loving it here. I love the club, I love the city. It would be impossible not to love it here.“My role is to give rhythm to our play. To help both the attackers and the defenders and bring a sense of balance to how we play.“A team like Chelsea has to want to win every game they play in. No matter what competition we are playing in, we want to win every game.“If we aim to do this, there are no limits to what we can achieve and I hope to have a couple of medals at the end of the season.“I love London. It is a wonderful city. There is so much to see and do — the only problem is it is a little colder than I am used to, but that’s life!“Andrea Pirlo and Xavi were the players that I try and model my game on. They were next level.”
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino heaped praise on his players following today’s 3-1 win over Leicester City.Davinson Sanchez netted an early opener for Spurs after being set-up by Christian Eriksen with the Danish playmaker later getting on the scoresheet himself in the 33rd-minute of the match.Son Heung-min then scored a stoppage-time third goal after Jaime Vardy had briefly put Leicester back into contention. The 3-1 win moves Spurs back to within five points of leaders Manchester City in third-place in the Premier League.“It’s a good time with the circumstances [to win]. I think my players are heroes. I repeat because our effort was amazing,” said Pochettino, according to Sky Sports.“Again we are there, we are fighting and showing great character. Like this afternoon it maybe wasn’t our best performance, and it’s impossible during 10 minutes to be at the same level, but we’re still in it.”The Argentine coach insists Son was unfairly booked as he didn’t dive in the area from Harry Maguire’s challenge. He added: “It wasn’t simulation first of all. It was a little bit unlucky.“During the game the referee was good but we didn’t have luck in that situation because that was a clear penalty.“Son, when he scored the third goal, he showed how he is with his character, personality and capacity to run more than 90 minutes.Liverpool legend Nicol slams Harry Maguire’s Man United form Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Steve Nicol believes Harry Maguire has made some “horrendous mistakes” recently, and has failed to find his best form since joining Manchester United.“It was a fantastic effort from him, great quality finishing and I was so happy for him because it was the key moment to feel a big relief after the whole game.”Pochettino also provided an update on Eriksen’s future at Spurs following another superb performance today.“We’ve spoken a lot about that, now we need to keep going, for him to continue performing in his best and of course I told you before he’s such an important player for us,” He added on Football London.“We’ll see what happens. I think I’ve used a few metaphors in the past about Christian, remember related with my family and my dog.“He needs to feel freedom to take his decisions. I think keeping going, so happy with him and we’ll see what happens in the end.”Spurs will next host German giants Borussia Dortmund at Wembley for the first leg of their last-16 Champions League clash.Another huge three points in the bag! 💪#COYS pic.twitter.com/oSBjLa9gL5— Tottenham Hotspur (@SpursOfficial) February 10, 2019
