first_imgFollowing the launch of the flagship Galaxy Note 9 in India, Samsung is getting ready to bring a more affordable smartphone to the market now with the Galaxy A8 Star. The phone has been teased by Amazon India for a while, where it will be going on sale, and now its price has also been revealed. The Galaxy A8 Star will be priced at Rs 34,990, which is similar to the pricing of the OnePlus 6. The upcoming Samsung phone boasts of a large Infinity Display, dual camera setup and a large battery, among other things.Along with the price tag, Amazon India also teases easy EMI offers, but we should know if there are more offers once the Galaxy A8 Star goes on sale starting August 27. It seems Samsung will be quietly launching the phone on Amazon on that date. The phone is already official in China by the name Galaxy A9 Star.Samsung Galaxy A8 Star specificationsAmazon India has listed the specs of the Galaxy A8 Star as well. The device will sport a tall 6.3-inch FHD+ Infinity Display which is notably as tall as last year’s Galaxy Note 8 and an inch taller than the Galaxy S9+. It will come with a 3D glass on the front and a 2.5D glass on the back, but there is no suggestion of wireless charging support here. On the back, you’ll see a vertical dual rear camera setup on the corner and a squarish fingerprint sensor in the middle.Powering the Galaxy A8 Star is a 2.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset, which is the same as the one powering the Nokia 7 Plus. This will be offered with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which is expandable up to 400GB via microSD card. The device houses a large 3,700mAh battery, which is again bigger than that inside the Galaxy S9+. It supports USB Type-C and fast charging support.advertisementComing to the optics, the dual camera setup on the back includes a 16MP PDAF primary sensor and a 24MP secondary sensor both with f/1.7 aperture. Samsung is calling it Dual Rear IntelliCam as the cameras will be able to adjust itself intelligently to take great pictures in any lighting condition. Up front, the Galaxy A8 Star gets a 24-megapixel sensor with f/2.0.
