Russ Liquid Test Fuses New Orleans And Dance Music In Bumpin’ Debut Single, “Honesty”

first_imgMeet The Russ Liquid Test! The new creation from Russell Scott aka Russ Liquid, is a live performance project that harnesses the funky power of New Orleans music. The band consists of Andrew Block on guitar, A.J. Hall & Alvin Ford Jr. on drums, and Russell Scott (Russ Liquid) on trumpet, keys, and a variety of technological extremities. The idea behind the live group came to life as Russ reflected on his performing style and the way in which he designs his music. A long-time admirer of jazz band leaders such as Dizzy Gillespie, his approach to composing music has always been influenced by the great minds he cherished. Constantly implementing improvisation into his writing and live performances, Russ hand-picked a select team of his favorite musicians to join him on the stage. Orchestrating his compositions as the psychedelic band leader, he guides the group through the tantalizing highs and glorious lows of his mind-bending sonic soundscapes. With a new EP due out later this year, the band introduced themselves with a brand new single. Stream “Honesty” below, and get ready to boogie.Says Russ, “We wanted to create something that embodies both the modern sound of electronic music with the rich heritage of New Orleans music, so we mashed up electronic production with the sounds of New Orleans second line in a very unique way that is both future and vintage.  The glue of this piece is the live drums with its second line-esque snare rolls and huge horn section driving the music, which we achieved by getting Alvin Ford Jr on drums (Dumpstaphunk and Pretty Lights) and a horn section featuring New Orleans players including Eric “Benny” Bloom of Lettuce and Aaron Neville’s band.”Expect big things from this new project, as they’ve already signed on to the All Good Records label.
